As coronavirus spreads across the UK with increasing numbers putting themselves in self-isolation, kind-hearted people are offering to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Dozens of “mutual aid” groups are mobilising in local communities following the #viralkindness campaign and dropping postcards with the message “Hello! If you are self-isolating, I can help” through the doors. The cards offer practical help such as picking up shopping and urgent supplies, posting mail and even just a friendly phone call. This could become more crucial with the Government confirming that the over-70s will be asked to self-isolate in their own homes for up to four months.
Local estate agents are joining the movement as well. Land & New Homes Network mobilised this weekend to help in their local communities. Kevin Ellis, the network founder said: “We have pushed this initiative out through community Facebook groups over the weekend. We have been able to mobilise this really quickly. Many agents who have engaged with us over the weekend, have embraced this and are keen to provide community support.”
